Board of Governors' Scholarship

This scholarship is funded entirely from contributions made by members of the Board of Northlands College. The scholarship is awarded to the most outstanding, full-time Northlands College student, continuing their education.

Northlands College Scholarship

Four scholarships are awarded annually; one for each of the four regions served by Northlands College. The scholarships are awared to the most outstanding, full-time Northlands College students, continuing their education.

Students may apply for either of these scholarships if they fall within one of the three categories.

Category 1: student continuing from one full-time program to another full-time program within Northlands College;

Category 2: student moving from Year 1 to Year 2 in a two year post-secondary program at Northlands College;

Category 3: student going from a Northlands College Program to another institution to complete a post-secondary diploma or degree.

Grade 12 Scholarship

Four scholarships are awarded by Northlands College annually to encourage and assist students in the K-12 system to continue their post-secondary education in the North.

Students may apply for this scholarship if they meet the following guidelines:

1 - Grade 12 students should be residents fo the northern Adminsitration Districkt, "northern" defined as fifteen years of half your life.

2 - Students should apply to a full time post secondary program at Northlands College within one year of graduation form Grade 12.

Centennial Merit Scholarship

Northlands College in conjunction with Advanced Education, Employment and Labour, Cameco, Kitsaki Managment Partnership Limited and Lac La Ronge Indian Band Post Secondary award six scholarships annually. Two worth $3,500, two worth $3,125 and two worth $1,000.

Students may apply for this scholarship if they fall within one the two categories.

Category 1: Saskatchewan students under the age of thirty;

Category 2: Saskatchewan students entering the second year of post-secondary studies.

Student Loans

In Saskatchewan, financial assistance is provided through the Canada Student Loans and Grants. Financial assistance may be provided after determining the applicant's educational cost and resources available to meet those costs.

Student loan applications are available from the counseling offices. You should remember that the processing of student loans will take from 6-8 weeks. Once your student loan has been processed and you receive your certificate of eligibility, please bring it to the administration office for signing by an authorized staff member.

Debt Reduction Benefits

Saskatchewan Student Bursary

  • is only available to students whose student loan assistance exceeds $210 per week of study;
  • is available for the first 170 weeks of post-secondary study ever taken.

Canada Study Grant and Saskatchewan Study Grant for Students with Dependents

  • Students who have dependent children and have needs that exceed $275 per week of study will receive federal and provincial debt reduction grants.

Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation Bursary

  • Replaces some or all of the Saskatchewan Bursary and Saskatchewan Study Grant for students with dependents.
  • Students must be in the second or higher year of full-time post secondary study, excluding graduate and post-graduate studies.
  • Student loans must be processed prior to October 15 of the given loan year.
  • Students enrolled in study beyond 170 weeks may have repayable Saskatchewan student loan amount reduced.
  • Eligible students will be notified.
  • Amounts will vary from $2000 to $4000 annually.
  • Students may receive this bursary for no more than 32 months of study or a lifetime maximum of $20,000.

Canada Access Grant for Students from Low-income Families

  • Available to full-time students in the first year of a multiple year post-secondary program, having net family income that falls within the range of entitlement for the National Child Benefit.
  • Is based on 50% of tuition to a maximum of $3000 and not to exceed the total amount of assessed financial need.

Students with Permanent Disabilities

There are special benefits available to students who can supply documentation of a disability. Students with identified disabilities are encouraged to contact Northlands College Student Services for information.
